Cabot Citrus Farms is a refreshing twist on golf

I didn’t see a single blade of grass the first time I visited Cabot Citrus Farms. That was in January, 2023. During my next visit, just seven months later, three courses had been shaped and grassed, and the fourth course had just begun getting shaped. It was during my most recent visit to Cabot Citrus Farms, in January 2024, that I understood the type of experience it’ll deliver to golfers and consumers. And the best way to describe that experience is: refreshing.

You see, Cabot isn’t studying anyone else’s playbook as it creates this mega destination in the central coast of Florida. It’s focusing instead on the land in front of them. The goal is to optimize that land for worldclass golf, a luxurious-yet-modest collection of homes, elevated cuisine, and more.

Some of that golf looks like regulation-length courses that offer an endless number of split fairways, bold green complexes and huge waste areas; while some of that golf looks like par-3 and half-par holes that are lit and outfitted with speakers. Some of those homes look like modest two-bedroom cottages; while other homes look like multi-story, five-bedroom getaways with private pools and other luxurious touches. Some of that cuisine looks like pizza from a wood-burning oven; while other experiences look like elevated tasting menus with wine pairings.

One walk through the pro shop will help you realize that Cabot Citrus Farms is bursting at the seams with options and newness. Why stick with one logo and one colorway when each golf experience can be branded and presented as its own unique offering?

Why? Because rules and expectations don’t dictate the experience at Cabot Citrus Farms. The only two things that dictate how Cabot Citrus Farms comes together are common sense and wildly interesting imaginations.
